Rossano and Corigliano Calabro

Rossano the most Byzantine of Calabrian towns was a flourishing centre of the Eastern Roman Empire for about five centuries. The refined art of that period created important masterpieces, like the small church of San Marco, twin sister of the Cattolica in Stilo, the Panaghia, the abbey of Patire, the painting of the Acheropita, the Codex Purpureus Roxanensis, all of them expression of a profound spirituality. Rossano, with the stunning view on the Gulf of Taranto, is also well known for the production of liquorice, having its own museum dedicated to its story and to its different uses and processing.

CORIGLIANO CALABRO . Corigliano, lying on the High Ionian Coastline with the Pollino and Sila mountains at its back, is a charming spot rich in tradition and history. Its old town centre is splendid and is dominated by the X century castle that can be admired from every corner of the town.
